Shakespeare in the Park
Submitted May 18 2020
Create an event that patrons of Stratford will commit to. Give them a reason to book overnight accommodation, a reason to come and stay in Stratford.
A Shakespearean Film Festival in the park.
When: 1 or 2 weekends in August
What: Build a weekend festival around the arts in Stratford.
– Art in the Park
– Music Festival (Summer Music)
– Festival Movie Series
– Celebrate Food & Craft Spirits
Where: Upper Queens Park Pavilion
Upper Queens provides an expansive area with few entry points, lots of parking and public washrooms.
I have spoken to Anne Swerdfager at the Festival who spoke with Anita Gaffney. The Festival would be on board to provide their content at no cost.
Craig Thompson of Balliran Entertainment will make his projector and screen available at cost.
Judy Matheson from Summer Music has agreed to make their ticketing platform available, as well as possibly tapping into some of their programing.
Dayna Manning would be able to help with some music programing.
My vision for these events would be an afternoon with Art in the Park vendors, restaurants offering food and beverages along with the craft breweries and distilleries.
There can be buskers all afternoon until the music takes the stage early evening. Once the sunsets the main event, Festivals Movies would begin.
