Movies In Cars
Re-submitted June 23 2020
Movies in Cars is a series of outdoor film screenings taking place several nights per week on the site of the Grand Trunk Community Hub. These ‘parking lot’ style movie theatres are allowed under Ontario provincial guidelines. Similar to the drive-in model, audio is delivered via an FM signal which the audience can receive in their cars.
The movies will be projected onto a painted plywood screen affixed to the side of four shipping containers stacked on-top of each other and positioned against the wall of the Grand Trunk building behind the fence. The projection booth would be housed under a tent in the grass median between the upper and lower parking lots.
Huron Perth Public Health has reviewed the site plan as well as project details and have provided its approval. No food or drink will be provided and washroom facilities are to be determined.
The Grand Trunk Community Hub site is an ideal location given its downtown visibility and proximity to downtown restaurants which will have the opportunity to promote patio dining and take-out to movie-goers before the film.
Film programming will include recent releases, classic films and family favourites. The Stratford Festival has agreed to provide its HD film series to screen at specific times during the summer.
